I have been distracted for a few days with the Gustavus Adolphus Nobel Conference. This was its 50th anniversary and focused on the question, “Where does science go from here?” The Presenters included 3 or 4 Nobel laureates and some people who could talk to them.
The videos of the two days should be archived online in a couple weeks and are well worth watching. The link is https://gustavus.edu/events/nobelconference/2014/
The two most applied were Jennifer West talking about using nanotechnology to destroy cancer cells and Harry Gray talking about using high school students to work on oxidizing water, although West was one of the weaker presenters. For entertainment, try Patricia Churchland, neurophilosopher, talking about the evolution of morality, although she may make your head hurt trying to keep up.
